About the artwork
I adore the Finnish word ‘sydäntalvi.‘ It translates to the heart of winter. The core of it, the essence of this season.
During this time of year, the frost bites your cheeks, the ground is frozen rock solid, and the sky is quiet. There is so much vulnerability, grief and strength in these long, dark winter months. A perfect time to turn inwards, listen to your needs, surrender to longing and quiet reflection.
Don’t get me wrong. Winter isn’t only about grief. But when you embrace your inner shadows, it suddenly makes all the light in you shine so much brighter.
